Date: 17 November 2021
Members Participating: 87 members from all participating agencies
Total Training Time: 8:00 hours
Units attending: SARZA, South African Police Service (SAPS), Gauteng EMS (GEMS), Netcare, Mountain Search and Rescue (MSAR), SAPS K9, ARCC, Tswane Fire, Gauteng Forensic Pathology, Bidvest Coin and HALO.
SARZA was involved in a rescue simulation exercise today. With numerous agencies involved, this is one of the biggest Search & Rescue simulations to date.
The scenario involved an aircraft that had experienced engine failure and crashed.
There were multiple people onboard, so the search for the plane and the patients ensued.
A rescue simulation exercise like this involves multiple agencies: SARZA, Gauteng EMS, Mountain Search and Rescue, South African Police Service, SAPS K9, ARCC, Tswane Fire, Gauteng Forensic Pathology, Bidvest Coin and HALO.
The purpose of the simulation is so that teams can practice together, understand the capabilities of each unit, and practise with the equipment and gear that each unit owns.
Thank you to all the teams and members that gave up their time to make this a major success.
So others may live…
