21/09/2024 Van Reenen Snow Rescue

On 21 September 2024, SARZA Gauteng and Free State teams were deployed to assist with aid relief, rescue, and recovery efforts for motorists stranded in various parts of the Free State and KZN due to severe snowstorms. Coordinated with Disaster Management and multiple agencies, SARZA has been working tirelessly alongside ER24, N3TC, and Gift of the Givers to ensure the safety of those affected.

Our team was primarily focused on the Van Reenen Pass, where conditions were particularly challenging. We urge everyone to avoid unnecessary travel between KZN and Gauteng and to stay updated on traffic advisories for their safety.

A special thank you goes out to Tuff Stuff Insurance for covering the fuel costs of our mission, and to DCD—especially C15 Johannes—for providing the SHERP vehicle, which played a critical role in the rescue efforts. Your support made a huge impact and helped us save lives during this mission. 🙏

Our teams are preparing for the journey home, and we wish the entire green light convoy a safe and smooth return.

Well done to all involved! We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication.
